They could have developed their liminality years ago, and either hid it or didn't realize it, and you two connected because subconsciously you had something in common. Or, you worked in similar fields or geographic areas, where you had a higher chance of Liminal exposure. Some people go years without realizing their husky mix is actually a little more wild than they thought.
